You might be wondering...

Are there any differences between Cloud and Self-Hosted?

Self-hosted and Cloud Octopus are largely the same product with the exception that Octopus Cloud is managed, monitored, backed up, and automatically upgraded for you, by our team.

There are some configuration and diagnostic functions that differ from the self-hosted product, such as, disabling specific items that relate to the provisioning and management of the cloud server itself. The pricing model and inclusions are also slightly different.

How is Octopus Cloud billed?

After your 30-day trial, you'll be billed every month based on the number of deployment targets in your Octopus instance. You're billed each month on the same day of the month as the day your trial expires. You can set a limit on the maximum number of deployment targets that can be added to your instance, to prevent accidentally going past your budget.

Before the end of your trial, we'll email you to remind you to enter your payment details. We accept credit card or PayPal.

What is counted as a “deployment target”?

Octopus Cloud is priced according to the number of deployment targets you'll be deploying to.

Most of the time, deployment targets are the virtual machines you'll be using Octopus to deploy to - the web and application servers that run our Tentacle deployment agent.

Deployment targets also include resources like Azure web apps, Kubernetes clusters, and any other resources that are managed from the Infrastructure tab within Octopus.

Do you support annual billing?

Yes, there is even a discount for paying annually.

Where is Octopus Cloud hosted?

Octopus Cloud is hosted in the following Azure regions:

West US 2 West Europe Australia East

We have plans to bring more regions online as demand for instances grows. If you want to request a region, please contact us.

What other limits apply?

You're limited to 5 concurrent deployments at any one time. If you need to increase this amount, please contact us.

Use of Octopus Cloud is also subject to our acceptable usage policy.

Can I migrate from Self-Hosted to Cloud?

Yes. If you have an existing self-hosted Octopus server, and you want to switch to Octopus Cloud, you may want to migrate all of your existing projects, variables, history, and configuration from your self-hosted instance to your new Octopus Cloud instance. We have prepared this guide which details the process.

Can I connect my Polling Tentacles over WebSockets to my Octopus Cloud Server?

No, however we do have plans to support Polling Tentacles connecting on port 443 in the near future.

Does my Octopus Cloud instance have a static IP address?

Yes, however, the Octopus Cloud is a multi-tenant service with several static IP addresses shared among customers in the same Azure region.

Each Azure region uses a pool of 10 static IP addresses, and the static IP for an Octopus Cloud instance will use one from the pool and may change to another static IP from the pool under certain situations.

A list of static IP addresses your instance could be using can be found within the technical section of the instance details page.

What if I decide to cancel?

You can cancel your Octopus subscription at any time and we will give you the ability to retrieve a database backup of your Octopus instance before terminating your account.
